Auckland Zoo Project

The junior Takahe team have been participating in an Auckland Zoo competition. As a part of that we had to create a habitat for any animal of our choice. win a fabulous learning opportunity at Auckland Zoo.
We had to think about things like…where does it live? What does it eat? And how do you keep it healthy and happy?
Room 9 chose to design a habitat for fishes. we learnt about fishes and what it needs in its habitat.
We drew pictures and wrote about fishes/ we took turns to talk about fishes, how we made a fish habitat.
Here is a video we created about fishes -

Room 9 SNAG GOLF

Last term, we have been learning to play SNAG golf. We had a coach come to teach and help us learn to play golf. It was super exciting and we all had great fun.

We were learning to position ourselves, hold the bat and hit the ball to a target. We learnt about focusing and aiming at a target. We had a lot of fun.

Our Self Portraits

In term one, we drew pictures of ourselves, looking at ourselves. By drawing and painting our self portraits we have been learning about who we are, where we come from and the place we stand now as a part of our inquiry - TURANGAWAEWAE.

We also discussed the invention of photography, a painted, sculpted, or drawn portrait was the only way to record the appearance of someone.

WE ALL COME FROM DIFFERENT PLACES. WE BELONG TO DIFFERENT CULTURES> WE ALL LOOK DIFFERENT BUT ARE ALL THE SAME. WE ARE ONE.
