BARK NZ is a registered charity dedicated to supporting communities by providing education to children on how to be safe around, and have positive experiences with, dogs.
They visited Room 9 with two dogs named Mo and Flicka. They shared with us some useful tips on how to be safe when around with dogs.
If a dog is on it's own, leave it alone. If a dog is with it's owner we need to follow simple steps.
We first ask the adult that the dog is with if they are allowed to pat them, then asking the dog which is one of the important thing for us to do and the dog will give us some clear signs if they are unhappy.
We also learnt how to pat a dog in a way that's not mean or bossy.
We thank Bark NZ team for helping us learn techniques we can use to keep ourselves safe when around dogs.
Morena Room 9,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Tania and I am one of the Manaiakalani Outreach Facilitators. I live in Whangarei and work with lots of teachers and students who like you, are using blogs to share their learning. I am so pleased that you have joined our Tuhi Mai Tuhi Atu programme this term and will be working really hard on leaving quality blog comments on other class blogs. I hope you enjoy seeing what is happening in other classes and get ideas from them too. Keep up the great sharing. I will make sure I check out your class blog on a regular basis and leave comments too.
